Gene A. Gorsline

Gene Alan Gorsline, 69, of Richford, passed away on January 23, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife Cheryl, and children Taylor (Ryan) Hughes, Tanya (Brad) Spicer, Gene (Marsha) Gorsline, Gene (Stephanie) Freese, Rusty Craft, Hillary Altieri, and 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Wayne (Barb) Gorsline, Matt Gorsline, Larry (Jeanine) Gorsline, Robert (Brenda) Gorsline, and Doug (Diane) Gorsline; sisters Vickie (Jeff) Conrad, Debbie (Jim) Parks; and brother-in-law Mark Rupert. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Avis Gorsline, and sister Sandra. Gene was a jack-of-all-trades, who could build or fix anything. He worked as a laborer on many different jobs, and operated the saw at Howland Brothers Sawmill. He also served in the United States Army. Gene was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He fondly remembered his days on the farm, including one of his favorite pastimes- riding cows. He had a special bond with his horse Bo. Gene loved his beer, westerns, and war movies. He was never one to dress up, and could always be found in a t-shirt, flannel, and pair of jeans. Gene was known to be a very stubborn man, but there was nothing that he would not do for his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, and would often hook the wagon up to his lawn mower and give them rides around the yard. His family meant everything to him. Gene got along well with everyone he met, and will be greatly missed by many. Genes family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Saturday, Jan. 27th from 9-11 am followed directly by military honors and a funeral service at 11:15. A dish to pass luncheon will follow at the Lisle Fire Hall.
