Gaylord G. Buster Seltzer, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 1st, 2012. Born on May 14, 1923 in Endicott, Buster was a son of George L. and Lena Mae (Edwards) Seltzer. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife Clara R. (Woodward) Seltzer, brother Leo and infant sister, Beth. Buster is survived by his son George (Cathy) Seltzer, grandchildren: Becky (Dennis) Craver, Christopher (Wendy) Seltzer , great grandchildren, Jacob Craver, Rhiannon Craver, Katie Beckwith, Taylor Gage, Natalie Seltzer, his aunt, Madge Edwards Williams, uncles Donald Edwards, Wayne (Anita) Edwards. Buster and Clara were also special grandparents to Nicole, Jamie & Jessica Aleba. They provided care for them as infants and formed a very special bond with them and their mom, Karen. As a young man Buster worked in his fathers business, Magic City Ice & Milk Company of Endicott. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WW II in Germany and participated in D Day activities at Normandy. He also served during the Korean Conflict. He worked for various trucking companies including; Hendrick Bus Lines, Endicott Trucking, Monks Express and Agway Petroleum, prior to becoming owner and operator of G.G. Seltzer L.L.C. He was also a bus driver for Whitney Point Central School District. Buster always enjoyed being outdoors mowing the yards and working in the garden. His love of the adventure started as a young man with his pony Boots and carried over throughout the years with several Indian and Harley Davidson motorcycles. Dad gave many years of service as Assistant Scout Master for Troup 169, not only participating in Year Round Camper, but also severing as Scout Master for week long summer camp and a special 150 mile canoe trip at Region 7 Explorer Post in Wisconsin. His greatest joy was being with his grandchildren. He taught us all lessons in life through his gentle loving steadfastness. Pa Pa we will miss wiping tears of joy from your cheeks. You will always be in our hearts. The family would like to thank the staff of UHS Wilson Hospital South Tower 3, UHS Primary Care Physicians, UHS Advanced Wound Care, Twin Tiers Home Health Care, and Lourdes Hospice volunteers for their outstanding care and support. At Busters request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Whitney Point, NY. Saturday May 12th at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bruce Glazier officiating.
