Gary Hoyt, 70, of Newark Valley, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family and friends on January 13, 2023. He is survived by his brother and sister in-law Bill and Leslie Hoyt, his two daughters, Stacy Hoyt (Jerry) and Karyn Canestaro (John), and his grandchildren, Kristopher, Matthew, and Annabelle. He is also survived by his honey, Lois Edson, and his best friend, Mike Wales. Gary prided himself greatly in his family, and was always doing everything in his power to take care of them. He was an extremely hard worker, beginning as an electrician, he started Hoyts Electric, then went on to become the owner of Re-Bath of the Southern Tier. Outside of work he loved nature. He built his dream house in the woods, and maintained a large property for his family to enjoy. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time taking walks through his property, jet skiing, working on his 68 Camaro, reading, and playing with his cats. His favorite pastime was cracking jokes, which he enjoyed doing even into his final days. His sarcasm and quick-wit will stay with his family forever. We all love you and you were the best brother, dad, grandpa and friend we could ask for, and more. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lourdes Hospice, who attentively cared for him in his final days, 4102 Vestal Rd Vestal, NY 13850 or Every Cat's Dream, a local cat rescue, 2001 E Main St. Endicott, NY 13760. A reception and tree dedication will be held in the spring in his memory. "Okay, back to work." MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley is assisting the family. Memories may be written in his guestbook at macphersonfh.com
