Frank X. Strasser, Jr.

September 14, 1941 — May 2, 2018

Remembering you is easy, We do it every day....missing you is a heartache that will never go away. Frank X. Strasser, Jr., 76, entered his new life and was greeted by his loved ones on May 2, 2018. He will be missed so very much by his loving wife and best friend of 56 years, Patricia (Sweeney) Strasser, his cherished children: Frank Strasser, III and his wife Laurie, Papi Camardo and her husband Michael, his beloved grandchildren: Molly, Bobby, Hunter, Erin, Keegan, Padiann, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many long-time friends. In addition to his parents Frank Sr. and Veronica Strasser, he was predeceased by his daughter, Ann and her husband Bob Bendzyn. Franks life was both diversified and fulfilling. He earned his BA from St. Johns University in Queens and was employed in the Insurance Industry for many years. He was a good man loving, compassionate, loyal through and through and extremely generous with his time to many causes. He was a member of the Berkshire Fire Dept. for more than 35 years and also helped with the food pantry. Frank was both a naturalist and a farmer at heart. The beautiful ponds at his homestead - Echo Hill,- provided for an assortment of wild life including many species of birds which he loved to feed and a home for fish which could be caught but only if they were released. He maintained a huge garden and was very generous with the vegetables he raised. Many happy hours with friends were also enjoyed under The Blue Iguana. He loved to cook. Starting as Pats sous chef he eventually claimed the kitchen as his. He also enjoyed helping out at St. Johns chicken BBQs and fish frys as well as assisting Skip make maple syrup. Everything Frank did seemed to be a passion of his but nothing surpassed his love of skiing. He very generously contributed his expertise to the Adaptive Skiing Program as an instructor. Sharing the exhilarating experience of skiing with those in this program brought him immense joy as did supporting the Wounded Warriors. His earthly life has ended too soon but his memory will be everlastingremembered by his loving family, treasured friends and the many he has helped along the way. Franks family will receive friends on Friday, May 11th from 5-7 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am Saturday, May12th at St. John the Evangelist Church, Newark Valley.
