Evelyn Ruth Ruediger Stewart

Evelyn Ruth Ruediger Stewart, 91, of Johnson City, NY, formerly of Newark Valley, NY went to be with our Lord on February 14, 2018, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle against flu complications. Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois May 23, 1926 and was raised in Forst Lausitz, Germany. Ruth is survived by her children, Karl Stewart, Carolina Beach, NC, Susan Stewart Brimley (Dennis), Mason, MI, Jacqueline Blakeslee, Binghamton, NY, Clifford Stewart (Janet) Johnson City, NY, Claudia Stewart Bedsole (Donald) Clayton, NC, Donald Lamb, St. Petersburg, FL, Her Grandchildren: Robert Stewart, (Terrie), Samantha Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Andrew Brimley, Stephen Brimley (Jenny), Robert Blakeslee, (Erica), Melissa Blakeslee, Michael Blakeslee (Karen), Clifford Stewart, (Cathleen), Chad Stewart, Shannon Stewart, Hattie Bedsole Townsend (Joey), Elizabeth Bedsole Pait (Travis), Matthew Bedsole, (Rebecca), Thomas McMahon, Sr. (Danielle), Jocelyn Hyde, (Jesten Sr.) Corey Lamb, and Adrianne Lamb, and her Great grandchildren: Jordyn Kozak, Emily and Hannah Stewart, Olivia, Natalie, Sophia, and Gavin Brimley, Alexis, Cecilia Rose, Margaret, Haeli , Padraig, and Charlotte Blakeslee, Madeline Howland, Robbie and Lily Blakeslee, Oliver and Nicholas Stewart, Emily and Jacob Townsend, Rileigh, Taylor and Isaac Pait, Alyssa Vilanella, Thomas, Shamus and Ashley McMahon, Jesten and Jameson Hyde, and her dear friend and companion, Harley Schroeder. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Gertrude (Schramm) Ruediger and her beloved granddaughters Amy Stewart Kozak and Shannon McMahon. Ruth had an unshakable faith in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Ruth also knew that no other child, grandchild or great grandchild could ever compare to hers. She took great pride in every single one. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send a donation in her name to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY 13760. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Wilsons Mills Christian Church, 179 Fire Department Road, Wilsons Mills, North Carolina 27527. An additional celebration of her life will take place Sunday, February 25, 2018, at Manleys Restaurant and Bar, 66 N Broad Street, Johnson City, NY.A formal Celebration of Life gathering will be held by her grandchildren at a later date.
