Emilie M. Stuhlmiller

November 20, 1931 — December 7, 2020

Emilie M. Stuhlmiller, 89, passed away on Dec. 7, 2020 following a brief illness. Emilie was born in Hancock, NY a daughter of the late George and Anna (Krause) Stuhlmiller. In addition to her parents, Emilie was predeceased by her brother George and Georges son Derek. She is survived by her brother Robert Stuhlmiller and several nieces and nephews. Emilie was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Newark Valley where she had served as a Eucharist Minister and on the Social Ministry Committee. Being extremely community minded she was also active with the Richford Town Board and the Northern Tioga Community Care Network. Emilie attended SUNY at Oneonta, received her BS in Home Economics Education from Cornell, her Masters in Public Service Education from Syracuse University and her PhD from Cornell University. For several years, she taught in the Tioga Central School District and was then employed as a Research Associate for the School of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Economics at Cornell for many years. She also assisted her parents and brother George in the operation of the family dairy farm. Emilie was a great advocate of continuing education and encouraged learning and reading for all ages. The Berkshire Book club was near and dear to her heart as were her devoted friends, her church family and her faith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Church, Newark Valley. Social distancing and masks will be required. Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Richford. MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley is assisting the family.
