Elma A. Zimmer

Elma A. Zimmer, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on March 20, 2013. Her loving family was by her side.Elma was born on May 14, 1925 in Endicott, NY a daughter of the late Allen and Naivette Reynolds. She was also predeceased by her husband Warren Zimmer, her sons, Capt Jerry Zimmer, USMC, James W. Zimmer, infant grandson, Jamie and sister, Marilyn Tootie Weston.She is survived by her son and daughters-in-law: Jeffrey and Maureen Zimmer, Helen Zimmer and Elaine Zimmer Davis; grandchildren: Jerry Zimmer, Valerie Zimmer, Karen (Todd) Harris, Alissa (John) VanLuvender, Craig (Bea) Zimmer, Brett Davis and great grandchildren: Jacob, Lynsey, Alivia, Allie, Matthew, Nicholas and Breeze. Elma graduated from Union Endicott High School, class of 42. She and Warren were married on June 13, 1943at Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Following Warrens tour of duty they returned to Maine to own and operate a dairy farm and raise their family. She was a devoted member of Nanticoke United Methodist Church and served as the organist. Elma enjoyed her bus driver position with M-E School system and serving as Court Clerk and Deputy Town Clerk for the Town of Maine. She and Warren enjoyed traveling in their camper following their retirement. Her greatest joy was her family! She will be dearly missed.Many thanks to Elmas friends: Butch Ward, Bruce Merrill and Pete Zimmer for their many visits and a very special thank you to her dear friend Nancy Way.A Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at 3 PM Saturday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley where her family will receive friends from 1 until 3pm. Pastor Ray Bartholomew and Pastor Dean Masland will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maine Cemetery. Memorials may kindly be directed to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vest Rd.
