Elizabeth Betty Wirth Churchill peacefully passed away on January 2, 2017 at St. Claras Manor. She was born in Carlstadt, NJ on October 18, 1916 to George and Elizabeth (Eitel) Wirth. She married Frank Churchill on June 5, 1937 in Wappingers Falls, NY. He preceded her in death in 1991.She worked as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II at Grummans on Long Island, NY. Betty helped her husband run a linotype business from their home in Baldwin, NY and worked at Pickering/Stanton in Freeport, NY before retiring in 1982.She enjoyed being a member of the Eastern Star and working on crafts for the Newark Valley Methodist Church bazaars.She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Alice Pierson, and her brother, George Wirth. She is survived by her son, Stuart (Linda) Churchill, her granddaughters: Pamela (Bill) Kunkel, and Angela (John) Stoltzenburg, all of Lincoln, IL, and her great grandchildren: Nathan Kunkel, Danvers, IL; Jordyn Kunkel, Bloomington, IL; Ethan Kunkel, Macomb, IL; Henry and Theodore Stoltzenburg, Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Burial will be at a later date in Newark Valley, NY. Memorials may be made in her name to ALMH Foundation (memo line: Healthy Communities Partnership), 200 Stalhut Drive, Lincoln, IL 62656 or charity of choice.
