Eleanor Lillian Echorst

Eleanor L. Echorst, 90, of Richford, NY, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 following a period of declining health. Born on May 14, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Dan and Catherine (Seidemann) Charles. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Echorst on Oct. 21, 1992 and her sister Genevieve Watkins. Eleanor is survived by her loving daughter, Coleen Dalola and her husband Robert, her cherished granddaughter, Amanda Dalola, her nephew, Lincoln (Barbara) Watkins and brother-in-law, Richard (Sandy) Echorst.For more than 40 years Eleanor was a faithful employee of NCR in Ithaca . During that time she took two brief leaves: first to work at the Seneca Army Depot during WW2 and then to meet the requirements to adopt her daughter. She retired in 1986.Following retirement, Eleanor devoted herself to the care of her husband Bill. She was a loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother, second to none and was always encouraging, accepting, thoughtful, compassionate and forgiving. She was a member of the Caroline Center Church; the Richford, Berkshire and Brooktondale Senior Citizens, and served as a board member of the Highland Cemetery Association and the Richford Town Board . Friends are invited to attend a remembrance service for Eleanor at 12 noon on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Highland Cemetery, Richford, NY. Rev. Philip Jordan will officiate. MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley is assisting the family.
