Eleanor Emma Allen

Eleanor E. Allen, 93, of Maine, NY, went to be with her loving Lord and Savior on April 3, 2011 following a brief illness. She is survived by her sisters, Henrietta Jean Allen and Elizabeth 'Betty' Hawley. She is also survived by her loving caregivers for the past two years, Nancy (Zenon) Rutkowski and Grace (Donald) Murch and several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was born on August 30, 1917 in Lisle, a daughter of the late Clarence and Lela (Walter) Allen. Her sisters, Alberta Barrows, Phyllis Allen and Helen Dingman, also preceded her in death. Eleanor was a longtime resident of Glen Aubrey and during her lifetime cared for many children there. In addition, she was a very loving and caring "Auntsie Bow" to her cherished nieces and nephews. She was a devoted member of the Glen Aubrey Baptist Church and loved her Lord with all her heart. Her family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Thursday from 12 noon until 2 p.m. A funeral service and celebration of her life will follow there at 2 p.m. with Pastor Loren Winn and Pastor James Switzer officiating. Burial will be in the Glen Aubrey Cemetery at a later date.
