Edward D. Yescavage of Newark ValleyEdward Don Yescavage, 82, passed suddenly on Nov. 9, 2012.Ed is survived by Andrew Williams, his life partner and Andys children., Adam, Christy, Andrew J. and Jessica Williams. Ed thought of Andys children as his own.Born on Feb. 14, 1930, in Wilkes Barre, PA, Ed was a son of Michael S.Sr. and Julia E. (Zelinski) Yescavage. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Doris Yescavage. He was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, class of 1948 and served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He retired from IBM, Owego following 30 years of service. Countless memories were made as Ed and Andy built their cottage on Cayuga Lake. It was here that they enjoyed many parties with their neighbors as well as restful moments and where Ed created a beautiful floral landscape for all to enjoy. A calm, gentle and loving soul, Ed was the bedrock and savior of his family. His presence and honest energy will be forever missed.A Celebration of Eds Life will be held at the MacPherson Funeral Home at 11 AM on Wed., Nov 14.Steve Lawrence will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the MacPherson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-6 pm. For those who wish, kindly direct donations in his memory to Hope Cemetery Assoc. POB 575, Newark Valley for restoration of the mausoleum.
