Eddie J Hollenbeck

January 10, 1952 — November 23, 2022

Eddie J Hollenbeck, our hero, our Bompy, our everything, and one extraordinary man, passed away on November 23, 2022 in our presence and surrounded with our love. Ed was born to the late Harold (Butch) and Sarah (Sadie) Hollenbeck on January 10, 1952. He is survived by his loving wife, Holly (Dean) Hollenbeck, his daughter and son-in-law, Brandi Hollenbeck and Rob Dearnley, his son, Eddie J. Hollenbeck III and Christy Phillips, his daughter and son-in-law, Erin, now 4th generation owner, and Eric Short, his sisters and brothers-in-law: Carol and Burt Oliver, Pam and Glenn Shoffler. Eddie treasured his familyeach and everyone..but he absolutely loved and adored his grandchildren: Leah and Landon Beaver, Sadie and Clayton Hollenbeck, Lindie, Jaden, Livia and Kamryn Short. His nieces, nephews and cousins will miss him too. A life-long resident and graduate of Newark Valley Central High School he completed his education and received his BA degree from Bloomsburg College. Shortly thereafter, he became the third-generation owner and operator of Hollenbeck Food in Newark Valley. For more than 40 years his presence there has been a blessing to his community. Not only did he serve as mentor to many young people over the years he also afforded the opportunity of working to others, never showing any type of discrimination. Employees and customers alike were always treated with respect and consideration---always greeted on a first name basis and, by his warm, handsome Irish smile! In his own quiet and compassionate manner, he greatly contributed to the well-being of his community through his generous donations. Ed also served on the Tioga County Legislature for more than 10 years and was a member of the Newark Valley First United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to a time of sharing of memories at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Wednesday, Nov. 30th from 2-6 pm and also to a Memorial Service being held on Thursday at 11 am at the Newark Valley First United Methodist Church. The Family will provide flowers. For those wishing to continue Eds legacy of returning to his community, any additional memorials may kindly be directed to a special fund he maintained at Hollenbecks, c/o PO Box 248, Newark Valley, NY 13811 in his memory. On-line memories and condolences may also be written in his guestbook at macphersonfh.com
