E. Avis Gorsline

E. Avis Gorsline, 89, of Berkshire, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital. Avis will be greatly missed by her family, her children: Gene Gorsline; Douglas (Dianne) Gorsline, Larry (Jeanine) Gorsline; Robert (Brenda) Gorsline, Matthew Gorsline; Wayne (Barbara) Gorsline; Sandra (Mark) Rupert; Vicki (Jeff) Conrad; Debra (Jim) Parks; a sister and brother-in-law: Juanita and Harold Allis; sister-in-law: Lucinda Rogers; brother-in-law: Art Fitzgerald; twenty-one grandchildren, many great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Avis was predeceased by her husband Charles Gorsline on August 13, 1993; her siblings: Leona Bennett, Roberta Platt, Mary Fitzgerald, Irene Stout, Florence Schwab, Lester Rogers and Barney Marsh.Avis was born on November 15, 1925 in Nichols a daughter of the late Grover and Ora (Marsh) Rogers. Avis was a member of the Nichols Senior Citizens Club; life time member of the Berkshire Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She treasured her family and for many years, assisted her husband in the operation of the family dairy farm. Her memory will live forever in our hearts. Until we meet again Mom, may you find comfort in the arms of the angels. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Friday, November 21 from 11-1 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley. Funeral services and a celebration of Avis life will follow at 1pm with Pastor James Willard, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire.
