Drexel Lane McCutcheon of Harford, NY passed away peacefully at his home on June 19, 2024. Drexel was born July 16, 1958 to the late Lynn H. and Sharon Ann (Smith) McCutcheon. Prior to his retirement, Drexel was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Suit Kote Company. He worked in construction for over 40 years and was highly regarded and respected among his coworkers.
Drexel was an avid outdoorsman; his free time was often spent hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed camping, boating, traveling and just sitting next to a bonfire. Drexel was especially proud to have been listed in the record books in 1997 for an 18 point buck that he finally bagged after three seasons of tracking. In addition to shotgun season he also participated in bow and black powder seasons. Drexel loved the water and had a special place in his heart for Seneca Lake. He spent many summers at his family’s cottage there and still drove by whenever he found the time.
Drexel is survived by his mother Sharon McCutcheon of Harford; brother Michael (Suzanne) of Cortland; son Austin Jay of Cortland; daughters Bridget (Micah) James of Clarence, Lindsey (Carl Kueffer) McCutcheon of Ithaca, Jamie (Alexx) Dudas of Alden; as well as the mother of his children and first and only love Christine. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and friends. In addition to his father, Drexel was preceded in death by his daughter Danielle Renee McCutcheon Brown and brother David Henderson.
A celebration of Drexel’s life will be at a later date. Memories and condolence can be shared in his guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com
