Douglas M. Wandall

Douglas M. Wandall, 72, of Richford, NY, was reunited with his wife and best friend, Connie, on March 21, 2020. He is survived by his children, Wayne (Kayla) Wandall, Brian Wandall, April (Nick) Harford and Jessica(Bill) Reynolds; his siblings Mike (Nancy) Wandall and Joyce Perry; grandchildren Kali, Amber, Morganne, Owen, Addison, and Seth; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Doug was predeceased by his sisters Patricia Wandall and Diane Harbst. Doug joined the Marine Corp at seventeen years old and served in Vietnam. He loved to travel and was employed as a truck driver for Burlington Motor Carriers before retiring in 2001. Doug's heart was with his family and friends and loved bringing people together over a good home cooked meal. One of the highlights of his day was his morning cup of coffee with his friends at the Richford diner. A couple of Doug's favorite pastimes were hunting, listening to bluegrass and gospel music, and tinkering in his garage doing small engine repair. He and Connie especially enjoyed their trips to Florida, and for Doug, one of the best parts was the drive down. He had a keen sense of direction and could navigate his way anywhere, never needing a map. After Connie went home to be with the Lord, Doug moved to the community at Fountain Manor, made many friends, and greatly enjoyed his years there. Doug was the kind of person who could talk to anybody, and despite his tough exterior, always seemed to have a special way with babies and dogs. He was strong and independent, never asking anything of others, but always ready and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. All those who knew Doug will greatly miss his caring heart, his steadfast support and courageous spirit. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
