Dorothy C. Foux, longtime resident of Berkshire, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2024, at the age of 93. “Dot” as she was affectionately known, was Born on July 1, 1930, in Willseyville, NY, a daughter of the late Peter and Magdalene (Klossner) Ceurter. Dorothy’s life was a testament to her unwavering spirit of giving and her dedication to her family and community.
Dot’s faith played a central role in her life, her involvement in the church community was a reflection of her belief in compassion and serving others. For 65 years, Dorothy was a devoted member of the Berkshire Auxiliary, demonstrating her commitment to service and community support.
Beyond her volunteer work and church activities, Dot was an avid gardener. She found joy in tending to her lawn, vegetable gardening, and canning—pastimes that not only brought her personal satisfaction but also allowed her to share the fruits of her labor with those around her.
Family was the cornerstone of Dorothy’s world. She was a loving mother to her children, Carol ‘Gus’ Cox, Barb Trask, Gary ‘Leroy’ Foux and Paul Foux. Dorothy’s role as a grandmother to Karen Brame and step-grandmother to Heidi Chase brought her immense pride and joy. Dorothy also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will miss her deeply, including a special niece Joan Hoffmier.
In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by her son David Foux, her grandson Jeff Brame, her son-in-laws Roy Trask and Rev. Jackson H. Cox, and her brothers George, Joe, and John Ceurter.
Friends and family are invited for a time or remembering on Friday April 26th from 12 – 2p.m. at MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY. A celebration of her life will be held at 2p.m. with Pastor Brandilynne Craver officiating.
