Doris M. Okrepkie

Doris M. Okrepkie, 82, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 16, 2008 at Green Meadows in Painted Post. Doris was born on May 25, 1926 in Endicott, a daughter of Morgan and Deborah (Nolton) Hover who died when Doris was a very young girl. She was lovingly raised by her sister Ruth and Ruths husband George Murch who predeceased her as did her other siblings, Helen Lillie, Laura Wood, John and Lester Hover. Her husband of 52 years, Walter Okrepkie passed in 1998.Doris is survived by her daughter Ardith Kurchey, of Painted Post, sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Kathy Okrepkie, FL, Bruce and Diantha Okrepkie, CA, her brother Pete (Peggy) Hover. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kenneth (Kim) Okrepkie, Jason (Christine) Okrepkie, Tiffany (George) Flores, Beth (Martin) Peterkinson, Jeff Okrepkie and Kristen (Sammy St. Arnold) Kurchey and great grandchildren, Corrin, Kevin, Emily, Grace, Nathaniel, Madison. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins including her special cousins Mary (late husband Jerry) Buckingham, Joe Okrepkie and close relatives Dot (late husband Paul) Lillie, Roger Lillie and Jean Lillie. Doris was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, a member of St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Johnson City and a retired employee of IBM. She enjoyed wintering in Florida and was an avid Bridge Player.A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley. Fr. Zinoviy Zharsky will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Johnson City. Her family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home.
