Doris M Blackman

Doris M. Blackman, 90, of Newark Valley, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020. Doris will be missed by her daughter: Dona (George) Edson; her granddaughters: Jackie (Scott) Wandell and Kellie (Joe) Mooney; her great grandchildren: Jake, Allie, Finn, and Sawyer; and her sister Judy (Walt) Klossner. She will also be remembered by a special friend Phil Barton. Doris was predeceased by her parents; her son Jeffrey Blackman; her former husband Don Blackman; and siblings: Sue Howland and Dick Lisk; and longtime friend Cliff Newman. Doris was a daughter of the late Leslie and May (Tubbs) Lisk. She graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1947. For many years Doris worked as the Director of ARC in San Diego, CA. After retiring, she owned and operated the RNL Quick Lunch with her daughter for another 18 years. In addition to her busy career, Doris cultivated many relationships. She adored her family who meant everything to her, as evidenced by her extraordinary care for her son Jeff. It was Doris privilege and joy to advocate for him throughout his life. Doris was bright and lively. She loved to dance and was meticulous in tending to her garden. Her memory carries on in the people she touched and the blossoms that will bloom in the spring. At this time there will be no services.
