Dora May CardOf Newark ValleyDora M. Card, 93 went to be with her Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning, April 2, 2008. Dora is survived by her daughter, Barbara Rabenstein, Berkshire, daughter-in-law, Joanne Card, grandchildren, David Rabenstein, Carol & Paul Olcott, Bob Card, Doug and Heather Card, Cindy Smith, great grandchildren, Jessica, Roy, Brian, Andrew, Heather, Greg, Adam, Kenny, Travis and Nicholas, one great, great grandson, sisters-in-law, Eleanor Worden, Nina (Gene) Campbell, Margaret Sabetto, Beulah Labouseur and many nieces and nephews.Dora was born on April 15, 1914 in Cortland, NY a daughter of Lewis and Estella (Cornish) Worden. She was predeceased by her husband, Esmond O. Card in 1970, her daughter Marian Smith, her son, Kenneth Card, her brothers Neil and Francis Worden, sister Ethel Hueg, son-in-law, David (Bud) Rabenstein In earlier years, Dora was an employee of the Vestal Central School and Newark Valley Central School systems. She also worked at the former Don and Aidia Restaurant in Vestal, Endicott Johnson and the Ladder Factory in Newark Valley. A loving and caring person, Dora most enjoyed working at Riverview Manor Nursing Home and later lovingly provided many years of home care for several area residents including Mrs. Bliss and Mrs. Bushnell. She has been a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley for more than 50 years where she taught Sunday School and was active in AWANA. Doras family will receive their friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St, Newark Valley on Friday, April 4 from 12 noon until 1 PM at which time a funeral service and celebration of her life will be held there with her former Pastor, Craig Golden officiating. Interment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Friends who wish may kindly consider directing contributions in her memory to the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley or Alzheimers Assoc. 401 Hayes Ave. Endicott, NY 13760.
