Donald 'Mickey' Marsh, Sr.

November 6, 1937 — March 26, 2015

Donald D. Mickey Marsh, Sr. 77, passed away at his home, surrounded by those he loved, on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Don is survived his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years, Helen Marsh, his children: Denise (Mark) Fessenden, Donnie (Beth) Marsh, and Colleen Bushnell; his brother, Jerald (Sara) Marsh and sister, Bonnie McLaud. Also surviving are his cherished and adored grandchildren: Sara (Bill) Garrity, Heather Marsh, Amanda Fessenden, Andrew Fessenden, Alyssa Fessenden, Douglas (Danielle) Bushnell, Randy Bushnell, Cody Burhans and Cory Marsh; great grandson, Lucius Garrity; sisters-in-law: Ann Marsh, Maryanne Settle, Sandra Case, Tyky Case; brother-in-law Robert (Mary) Case, son-in-law Jeff Bushnell, many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Don was born in Berkshire on Nov. 6, 1937 a son of Harold and Lillian (Zimmer) Marsh. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Richard Settle, Robert Marsh and his great grandson, Vincent Garrity. Don was a graduate of Newark Valley High School class of 55. He was a retired employee of IBM Endicott and literally used IBMs logo THINK to his and their advantage, receiving numerous awards for his outstanding suggestions to improve manufacturing processes. Don was also an outstanding athlete well into his adult life. He passed his knowledge of sports on to his children and grandchildren and they all knew he was their #1 fan as he seldom, if ever, missed any games or school activities regardless of the travel distance involved. He was an avid Yankee, Syracuse and NASCAR fan and enjoyed traveling and camping.Dons family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A Celebration of His Life will be held there on Tuesday at 3 PM. Burial will be at a later date in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden.Don and his family were so very grateful for the extraordinary care provided to him by so many. Especially included are his physicians: Drs. Frederick Marshall and Howard Silcoff, Finger Lakes Physical Therapy Staff Margery and Brandy, and his caregivers, Janet, Angel and Rosalie.For those wishing, kindly consider a charity of your choice in memory of Donald D.
