Donald Eugene Jake WhitmarshOf Newark ValleyDonald Jake Whitmarsh, 74, passed away on Dec. 25, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Jake is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Clara (Saddlemire) Whitmarsh, his son, Jeff (Wendy) Whitmarsh, his daughters, Bonnie (Phil) Brigham, Becky (Jeff) Schultheis, his brother, John Whitmarsh, his sisters-in-law, Lela Westfall, Cora Jean Corky Whitmarsh, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his faithful dog Chrissy Sue.Jake was born on October 6, 1933 in the Town of Tioga a son of the late Claude and Sadie (Westfall) Whitmarsh. He was predeceased by an infant son Ricky Eugene. Jake retired from Endicott Johnson Shoe Mfg. Co following 35 years of service, enjoyed keeping honey bees, cutting fire wood, square dancing and was an avid wrestling fan.A funeral service and celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Friday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley with Rev. James T. Willard officiating. Interment will be in the East Newark Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6-8 pm.
