Donald G. Bolson

Donald G. Bolson, 85, of Newark Valley, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 12, 2011.Don is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Anna (Karpensky) Bolson, his sons and daughters-in-law: John and Trudy Bolson, George and Nancy Bolson; grandchildren: John Jr, and Christina Bolson, Jennifer and Jason Casey, Jessie Bolson, Victoria Schweckendieck, Zachary Schweckendieck, John Michael Bolson, Kathleen Bolson, Nathan and Melinda Miner, Justin and Kerry Miner, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Don was born on the family farm in Newark Valley on September 18, 1925 a son of George N. and Agnes (Dymond) Bolson. He attended Newark Valley High School and while there was a talented clarinetist with the school band. This band had the distinction of playing at the NYS Worlds Fair in 1939. Don loved to dance with Ann, especially the Polka. He was a hard-working, dedicated family man who owned and operated the family farm, served as fire watchman for Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory and retired in 1984 from Maine-Endwell School System where he served as head bus driver for many years. A funeral service and celebration of Dons life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. Pastor Russell Ward will officiate. Burial will follow in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Dons family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
