Donald B. Thomas

Donald B Thomas,72, of Jenksville (Berkshire), went home to be with his Lord on June 7, 2014 following a brief illness.He leaves behind his high school sweetheart, best friend, and wife of 52 years, Beverly J Thomas; his sons and daughters-in-law: Loren L. and Kathleen Thomas, and Scott D. and Rene Thomas. Also surviving are his sister Betty (John) Calkins; grandchildren: Trisha Thomas, Donald V. Thomas, Sherilyn (Ronnie) Parker, Colleen M. Thomas; sisters-in-law: Beverly A. Thomas, Mary Ellen Thomas Odom and Addie Hover; several nieces nephews and cousins including his very special cousin, Terry Hauver and her girls. Don was predeceased by his parents: Harrison M. and Anita Mae (Humiston) Thomas;brothers, David and Frank Thomas; and brother-in-law, Gerald A. Hover.He was a devoted,life member of the Jenksville United Methodist Church;a long-time trustee of the church; and a graduate of Newark Valley High School Class of 1960. He also served 14 years as a Newark Valley Town Councilman and many years as President of, and caretaker for, the Glen Hope Cemetery. Don was an avid hunter and was enjoying his retirement from the Ithaca City School District following his 32 years of dedicated employment. Services for Don will be held at the convenience of the family in Glen Hope Cemetery. For those wishing, kindly consider directing memorials to the Jenksville United Methodist Church.
