October 9, 1941 — April 3, 2018

Dennis F. Liebe, 76, well known and respected volunteer fireman aka "Firefighter Denny" to thousands of children, passed away on April 3, 2018, in the presence of his loving family and his brother firefighters, at Wilson Hospital. Denny is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Margaret (Grabowski) Liebe and his children Michael Liebe, Lisa (Patrick) Kiernan, Kevin (Sandra) Liebe; his cherished grandchildren: Kiana, Amari and Mikel Liebe, Riley and Matthew Kiernan; his sisters-in-law, Rosemary Niznik and Irene English, several nieces, nephews and a special cousin, Cyd Miller. In addition to his parents, Frank and Louise Liebe, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law: Richard Niznik and great niece, Sydney Cook as well as other members of Marges family. Dennis was a member of Most Holy Rosary Church in Maine, NY and retired from GE/BAE in Westover following 46 years of service. In addition, he served Newark Valley and Berkshire as Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Marshall for almost 30 years; served as a volunteer fireman; and provided fire prevention instructions to school children, community and senior citizen groups. Denny also loved sports and was one of the founding fathers of the Northern Tioga Boys Baseball League. He not only guided his own children, he provided coaching expertise to many other children as well. Denny never seemed to tire of serving his community. His presence will be greatly missed as will his terrific sense of humor.His family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Friday from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday at Most Holy Rosary Church, Rt. 26, Maine followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire.
