Dean Cornett

June 9, 1949 — May 18, 2021

Dean L. Cornett, 71, of Newark Valley, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 18, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1949 in Endicott, NY. Dean was predeceased by his father, Leo Cornett in 2015. He is survived by his mother, Jean Cornett, Union Center; and his children Sara Humble, Rachel Hollenbeck (Eric), and Sean Cornett. Also surviving are his sister Nancy Cornett, Salt Lake City, Utah; brother Scott (Leigh), Allegany NY; beloved grandchildren Logan King, Ethan Humble, Nathan Hollenbeck, James (Kristi), Jessica, and Jasmine Cornett; 4 great-grandchildren; niece Allison Cornett (Michael Vanden Berg); aunts; uncles; cousins; and too many friends to mention. Dean's greatest joys in life were his family and helping others. He made it possible for his parents, then mother to stay in their own home. Dean enjoyed riding his motorcycle for day trips around the scenic routes of New York and Pennsylvania. His many interests included local history and genealogy. Dean left this world too soon with so many more people left to help, but our Lord had other plans for him. He will be greatly missed by many whose lives he has touched in so many ways. Dean was a graduate of Maine-Endwell High School and graduated with honors from Clarkson University in 1971. He then went on to work for IBM corporation in Burlington, VT and Owego, NY. While working for IBM he spent time working in Germany and New Mexico. After leaving IBM, Dean spent several years with ENSCO and worked some with Doron as well. One of his favorite work projects was writing avionics software for the Army SOA in the mid 80's.
