Dawn Elaine Kneidinger
Newark Valley, NY
Dawn E. Kneidinger, 93, of Newark Valley, passed away on July 24, 2025, with her children by her side at the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Johnson City, NY. Born on August 7, 1931, Dawn was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Mayo) Kent Sr. Dawn's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her loving children, Timothy Zimmer, Judie (Jeff) Bridges, and Michael (Jeanna Casey) Zimmer. Her legacy of love continues through her 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Paul (MaryJo) Kent, her sister-in-law Charlotte Kent, and her longtime friend, Ruia Lewis, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Dawn was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Kneidinger, her brother, Edward ‘Chuck’ Kent Jr., her daughter-in-law Willa Zimmer, and the father of her children, Clifford Zimmer.
Dawn's life was one of service and affection, particularly evident during her time as an aide at Ideal Hospital, where she tenderly held and rocked premature babies, soothing them with her gentle voice. She continued to touch lives at Newark Valley High School, where she worked in the cafeteria and formed lasting relationships with the children. Dawn's caring nature extended to her role as the front-end manager of P&C Foods in Owego, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and ability to make everyone feel welcome.
A devoted Christian, Dawn lived her faith through her actions and commitment to her church. She was an active member of the Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Myrtle Beach, where she and her husband, Joe, served as Church Ambassadors. Together, they opened their hearts and the church doors to welcome others, embodying the spirit of community and fellowship.
Dawn loved to travel, especially the cruises she enjoyed with Joe. They lived in Myrtle Beach for over 20 years, where she cherished her ocean view home. Her social nature brought her and her husband many friendships wherever they lived. She loved country music, especially Johnny Cash and Willy Nelson who she has a picture with and an autographed book. She enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together, making taffy and Christmas popcorn balls with her family.
Family and friends are invited to a service celebrating her life on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, New York at 12:00 noon.
