David E. Bud Rabenstein, 76, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at his home in the presence of his loving family. Born on April 6, 1931 in Redlands, Calif., he was a son of the late August and Emma (Winship) Rabenstein.Bud, as he was affectionately known, is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years; Barbara (Card) Rabenstein, his loving children; David Rabinstein, Jr., Carol (Paul) Olcott, his grandchildren; Jessica and Roy Olcott, all of Berkshire; his sister; Anne (Henry) Koval, So Holland, Ill, nieces; Julie (Andy) Applebee, Jacksonville, Ill, Karen Jurgenson, New Lenox, Ill and many other relatives and friends.Bud graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1948 where he was Salutatorian of his class. On July 1, 1955 he married the love of his life, Barbara. Bud was a devoted member of East Berkshire United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as a lay leader. In addition, he served on the board of Arrowhead Ministries. As a young man he assisted his father in the operation of the family dairy, saw-mill and the sale of maple syrup. His son David continues the family dairy with the help of other family members. He was a long time member of NEDCO Milk Co-Op, where he served as secretary for many years. Bud also had a natural ability to repair any type of farm machinery. He was a dedicated family man, good friend and neighbor to many and will be greatly missed by all.Friends may call on Monday, March 17, 2008 from 11-1PM at the East Berkshire United Methodist Church. A celebration of Buds life will follow at 1pm with the Rev. Viki S. Andrews and Rev. James T. Willard officiating.
