David A. Heggelke

David A. Heggelke, 59, of Owego passed away at his home on March 16, 2018 following a period of declining health. David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Colleen (Creeley) Heggelke and his children: Daniel (Sze Nga) Heggelke, Laura (Justina) Heggelke, Carla Heggelke, Jocellyn (Eric) Gartenman, Jacob (Sarah) Heggelke, Heather Gaska, 2 grandchildren, 5 granddogs and his most precious best friend, always by his side, Jasmine, his chocolate lab. Also surviving are his loving siblings: Ruth (Heggelke) Hickok, Nancy Luce, Robert (Kyong) Heggelke, many nieces, nephews and cousins. David was predeceased by his parents Roy and Dolores (Leader) Heggelke and brother-in-law Merle Hickok.He was a graduate of Montrose High School and Broome Tioga BOCES where he studied printing. For most of his life he was employed as a printer/pressman. In 1979, David played for a semi pro football team--- The Van-Port Thunderbirds, in Portland Oregon. He enjoyed fishing, puttering around the house and yard both at home and at their cottage on the lake. Nightly campfires at the lake with his friends, rain or shine, is a treasured memory. A celebration of David's life has been held. An additional celebration will be held sometime this summer at their cottage.
