Darlene S. Watkins

Heaven gained another angel on Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015.Darlene S. Watkins, of Speedsville, passed away in the comfort of her home and in the presence ofher devoted family. Darlene was 62 years old. She was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Jean Stover and is survived by her loving husbandof 33 years, Lyman R. Watkins; daughter, Michelle, and her cherished grandchildren Danielle and Michael. Also surviving are her brother, Andrew Shady, sisters: Carol (Sandi) Shady, and Patricia Sissy Faul, and Lymans siblings: Sherry, Terrie, Raymond and Dick as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.Darlene has earned the title of Lifetime Cook, Baker and Candy Maker. At an early age she began assisting her mother with the daily operation of Jeans restaurant in Newark Valley, later at the Truck Stop and then continued on at Cornell University Dining where she had been employed for many years. Darlene loved to travel, especially to Virginia to be with her family, and to dine out. Never one to beat around the bush, Darlene always called it like it was! Darlenes Family would like to extend a very sincere note of appreciation to Dr. Ronald Harris and the Staff at Broome Oncology, UHS and Lourdes Hospice for the outstanding care provided to Darlene during her long illness. They would also like to thank the many family and friends for their support during this time.Those wishing to honor Darlenes life with a donation are asked to kindly consider Lourdes Hospice or The American Cancer Society in Johnson City.
