Clyde H. Tull, well known and respected dairy farmer in Newark Valley for more than 60 years, passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 93, on April 29, 2014. He was born on Jan. 29, 1921, in Maine, NY as son of the late Dever and Lona (Lindsey) Tull. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife, Vivian Jane (VanGorder) Tull, his son, Mark Tull, his daughter Judith Tull Berghorn, siblings Merle Tull, Nellie Huson, Vera Doty, and his son-in-law, Robert Sheppard. Clyde is survived by his daughter, Virginia Sheppard, grandchildren: Linda (Tony) Tijerina, Mark (Debbie) Berghorn, Lindsey (James) Dean, Brittany (William) Doran. Also surviving are: his sister, Evelyn Martin, and brothers, Gordon (Mildred) Tull and Gerald Tull; his great grandchildren: Scott Berghorn, Lauren Tijerina, Marissa, Katie, Karli Berghorn and Eliza and Audrey Dean, sisters-in- law: Mary Cook Ferris, Eleanor VanGorder, Gretchen (Michael) Santangelo, several nieces and nephews. As a younger man, Clyde excelled in baseball (especially noted for his pitching skills), basketball and was an avid hunter, horseman and a skilled woodworker. He was a lifelong Yankee fan. When he was in his 70s, Clyde designed and built a family cabin almost entirely by himself. He was a Charter Member of the Maine Mavericks; a member of the Skyline Corral; the Tioga County Sheriffs Posse; Tioga County Farm Bureau; The Masons and served several terms as a Newark Valley Councilman. He had a quick wit and sense of humor and loved to watch the variety of birds at his feeders, but most especially he was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family. His family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley Friday, May 9thfrom 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service and Celebration of His Life will be held there on Saturday, May 10th at 1PM.
