Claire E. Schwartzof Newark ValleyClaire E. Schwartz, 80, of Smullen Ave., passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2008. Claire is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Carol and Bruce Janes, West Patterson, N.J., Nancy Frankoski, Newark Valley; a brother, Walter Bailey, Greenlawn, LI; her special grandchildren, Kevin (Vivian) Janes, Brian (Kate) Janes, Christine Janes, Nicholas, Sarah, Benjamin and Jeremy Frankoski; a great-granddaughter, Violet Janes; her companion and special friend, Clark Smith, Newark Valley; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Claire was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Schwartz in 1971; siblings, Alma Weber, Lucille Volmar, Betts Judge, Marion Hall and Donald Bailey. Claire was born on July 21, 1927 in Greenlawn, Long Island, the baby of seven children of the late Walter and Lola (Morris) Bailey. For many years, Claire was a secretary for General Motors in Tarrytown, New York. Claire was a member of the Newark Valley United Methodist Church and was an active member with the Newark Valley Historical Society where she volunteered her time at the train station. Her smile and warm heart will always be dearly remembered. Funeral services and celebration of Claire's life will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Newark Valley United Methodist Church with her Pastor, Rev. Nancy J. Adams, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family on Saturday, March 8th, at the Northport Rural Cemetery, Northport, Long Island.
