Christina Marie Furman

Christina Marie Furman, 50, of Opelika, AL, formerly of Owego, NY, passed away on June 25, 2025. Born on April 2, 1975, Christina was a daughter of the late Franklin and Ruth Ann Wheeland.

Christina left behind her husband of 29 years Les Furman, her children Franklin Furman and Nicholas Furman, her siblings Steven Mattscheck, Tracey (Don Jr.) Swansbrough, Melissa Wheeland, Beverly (Roger Walburn) Wheeland, and Tamara Wheeland, as well as her mother- in-law Linda Furman, her brothers-in law Chuck Furman and Al (Kathy) Furman, her sister-in-law Wendy (Chris) Foltyn, and a large family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her close friend Heather Barker, a special aunt Deborah Judson, and the daughter she never had, her canine companion ‘Ruthy.’

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her father-in-law Lavern Furman and her brother-in-law Tim Chandler.

Christina's happiest moments were spent on the beach, hand in hand with her beloved husband Les. Those who knew her will fondly remember the sight of Christina's footprints in the sand, a reminder of the cherished memories she leaves behind. Her and her husband also enjoyed many trips together. 

Family was the cornerstone of Christina's world. She cherished every moment spent with her relatives, whether it was within the warm embrace of her immediate family or during her cherished trips back to New York. In her spare time, she could often be found working on her latest diamond art piece, a hobby she thoroughly enjoyed.
