Charlotte F Eastman

December 6, 1916 — March 12, 2014

Those we hold most dear, never truly leave us. They live on in the kindnesses they showed, the comfort they shared and the love they brought into our lives. Charlotte Eastman left this life to be united with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2014. She was 97 years young. Charlotte was born in Newark Valley on Dec. 6, 1916 a daughter of Frank T. and Grace (Watrous) Williams. She was a devoted daughter, caring for her mother until her passing at the age of 102 and a loving wife and homemaker for her husband Barna who predeceased her on Sept. 29, 1995. Also predeceasing her were her sister Eleanor Gray, and cousin Grace Hall. Charlotte is survived by her nephews and nieces: Gilbert D., Barna John and Paul Richard Kane, Helen Crawford, Mary Dann, her grand nieces: Amy Elizabeth Gray, Lisa S. (Anthony) Mastrangelo; Lisas daughter Grace; her cousin, Perry (Pete) Hall. For the past several years, Charlotte has lovingly been cared for by her dear friend Alice Davis. Charlotte was a lifelong and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley where she served as choir director for many years and enjoyed her membership with ACLF. As a younger woman, she was an employee of the Newark Valley Bank and of Pargas, also in Newark Valley. She and Barna enjoyed traveling, (especially in their motor home) and wintering many years in Arizona. Together, they raised a huge vegetable and flower garden in the summer and then canned countless mason jars of vegetables to share with others and enjoy throughout the winter months. She was an artisan with her needles: crocheting, knitting, sewing and tatting. Friends are invited to share their memories with her family on Sunday, March 16, at the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley on Whig St. from 2-3 PM. A Celebration of her life will follow there at 3 PM with Pastor Michael Spiegel officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley. Those wishing to remember Charlotte with a charitable gift are asked to kindly consider Shepherds Home, 1805 15th Ave. Union Grove, WI 53182 in memory of Charlotte F. Eastman. MacPherson Funeral Home Newark Valley is assisting with arrangements. Memories and condolences may be written in Charlottes guest book at macphersonfh.com.
