Charles E. Armstrong

Charles E. Armstrong, 83, of Richford passed away at his home on Feb. 27, 2016 following an illness. He is survived by his loving wife Charlotte K. (Barnhart) Armstrong and his daughter Velvet (Donald) Lyke. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren: Catherine Lyke, Jessica Casolito, James Scott Swagler; great grandchildren, Julian and Adriana Erickson; sisters: Ethel Smith, Hazel (Larry) VanSusan, and Phyllis (Vic) Alexander, many nieces, nephews and cousins.Born in Berkshire, NY on April 22, 1932, he was a son of the late William H. and Olive V. (Shrauger) Armstrong; He was also predeceased by his son, James Phillip Swagler and 8 siblings. For 20 years, he owned and operated the family dairy farm and then was an employee of Cheseboro-Whitman Mfg. Co. in Newark Valley for 20 years. He also had membership in the Odd Fellows (IOOF) and enjoyed the Senior Citizens Club. His family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 10 am until 12 noon at which time a service of remembrance will be held.
