Catherine “Cathy” M. Romano, 91, of Berkshire, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023 at Mercy House in Endicott. Born on October 27, 1932, one of ten children of the late Carl and Katherine (Zucker) Kuhrt, Cathy spent her life creating a warm and loving home, filled with the aroma of freshly baked cookies and the sound of laughter.

Cathy is survived by her children: Richard (Michele) Romano, Charles (Bonnie) Romano, Antoinette “Anne” (David) Owens, and Donna (Bennett) Spevack, her grandchildren: Anthony, Nicholas, Ryan, Kelsey, and Samuel, and four great grandchildren, her siblings: Ruth Kingsland, Sandy Semko, and Palma Sibley, several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. She is also survived by a special niece: Crissy Pignatelli, and her loving neighbors: Dan and Ruth Beasley and Ruth Leonard.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Romano in 2007, a granddaughter, Kristi M. Lee, and her siblings: Carl, Tommy, Phyllis, Emma, Roberta, and Madeline.

Cathy’s love for baking and cooking was well known among her friends and family. She found joy in the simple act of mixing ingredients and creating something delicious and comforting. Her homemade cookies were legendary, and her cooking brought people together, making every meal feel like a special occasion.

Family time was of utmost importance to Catherine. She created a home that was not just a place to live, but a place of comfort, love, and happiness. Her gentle nature and kind heart made everyone feel welcome and cherished.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 13, 2023, with services to follow at 3:00 p.m. at MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley with Pastor Paul Kunik officiating.
