Carolyn S. Croft

Carolyn S. Croft, 72, formerly of Newark Valley, passed away suddenly on May 31, 2014 in Cortland where she has resided for the past several years. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents Cyrus and Edith (Clendenin) Cassell and is survived by her son David (Linda Smith) and daughter Debra (Randy Martin) Byrnes; grandchildren: Aidan, Brigid, Phoebe and Brendan Byrnes; great grandson, Cameron Byrnes, several nieces, nephews, cousins, an aunt, Connie Roudybush, an uncle, Jim Clendenin and her dear friends Trish Jeffers and Donna Walsh.For many years, Carolyn was a legal secretary as various law firms in the Southern Tier. She had an extensive doll collection, was an avid reader, especially enjoying murder mysteries and a doting animal lovera fact her dog, Callie Rose and cat, Katie Scarletcan attest to.Carolyn's family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St, Newark Valley on Wednesday, June 4 from 11 am until 12:45 pm. A Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life will follow there at 1 PM with Rev. Nancy J. Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
