Carm also leaves behind many dear friends from the past and those that she met at Good Shepard Village.
She was predeceased by her loving husband William Distler in 2014, sisters Antoinette and Mary, and brother Micheal.
Embarking on a journey of caring for others early in her life, she graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She transitioned to the role of a homemaker and continued to nurture and support her family with the same love and dedication she had shown in her professional life.
Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. Carmella was a familiar face at Newark Valley sporting events, cheering with enthusiasm and pride. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Newark Valley where she was active member of the Alter-Rosary Society and seldom missed assisting with various church dinners. An avid quilter, she created beautiful works of art that were as warm and comforting as her presence. Carmella also enjoyed playing cards, and hosting luncheons with her friends.
Volunteering was another way Carmella expressed her selfless nature. She gave her time generously, always seeking to make a difference in the lives of others. Her kind and loving spirit was a beacon of light to everyone she met, and her selflessness knew no bounds.
