Carl Randall Yakey

Carl R. Yakey, 85, passed peacefully at his home following a period of declining health on Thursday, October 18, 2012.Carl is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mildred (Vosburgh) Yakey and his sons: Richard P. (Tracy) Yakey and Stephen C. Yakey. Also surviving are his sister Shirley (Ray) Kane-Vanderbush, Millies sister and her husband, Marion (Marty) Corson, his former daughter- in- law and dear friend, Denise Jacobson, several nieces, nephews and cousins.Carl was born on July 11, 1927 in Pittsfield, MA a son of Charles and Grace (Randall) Yakey.He served in both the US Navy during WW II and US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Gault Chevrolet following 30 years employment as an expert auto technician. Carl was an avid gardener and managed to keep his Millie busy canning the many fruits of his labors. A Celebration of Carls Life will be held at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley on Tuesday at 2 PM. Pastor Donna Martin will officiate. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm until the time of service.
