Carl J. Lane, 60, formerly of Bailey Hollow in Newark Valley, passed away at his home following a period of declining health. Born on May 1, 1950 in Johnson City, Carl was a son of Rodney , Sr. and Elizabeth (Dyer) Lane. In addition to his parents Rodney and Betty Lane of Newark Valley , he is survived by his children, William and Carl Lane, Shonna Dean, Jennifer Banks and Corrie Proper, his siblings, Rodney 'Bucky' Lane, Jr., Cindy Ferraro and Sueann Pado, 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Carl served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1967-1969. He was a 'Mountain Man' truly loving the great outdoors and fishing, hunting, camping, campfires, cookouts, storytelling, country music and singing as he strummed his guitar. When he had to be indoors, he enjoyed watching NASCAR races.His family will receive friends from 3-4 PM on Tuesday, June 29th at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A Celebration of his life will follow at 4 PM with Rev. Nancy J. Adams, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Newark Valley, officiating followed by Military Honors.
