Carol Joan (Dingman) Seymour Coffin, Joanie, as she was affectionately known, was born December 20, 1937 to Eugene (Bill) Dingman and Helen Lydia (Allen) Dingman the 2nd of 7 children. Joanie was predeceased by her parents, brother John Dingman, Son Allen Seymour, Grandson Cody Seymour, Step son George Coffin. She is survived by her husband John 'Phil' Coffin, her son Joseph (Doris) Seymour, Elmira, NY; daughters Carol (Robert) Smith, Berkshire, NY; Tammy (Henry Hawley) Bower, Newark Valley, NY. Sisters Evelyn Rockwell, Berkshire, NY; Grace (Donald) Murch, Richford, NY; Nancy (Zennon) Rutkowski, Maine, NY; Judy (Butch) Hardik, Wyoming, PA; Susan (Larry) Space, FL. Step Children, Sherrie Lorenzini, Holiday, FL; Thomas Coffin, Walton, NY. 11 Grandchildren, 21 Great grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, and 1 more on the way. During her life Joanie worked at Woolworths, The Wagon Wheel Diner, Echorst Arco, Newark Valley Central School District, Smith Corona, Therm Inc, Ithaca Gun Co., Morse Chain, IBM and retired from Borg Warner in Ithaca NY. She loved to meet, talk to and watch people. She loved flowers, circle puzzles, adult coloring books, long car rides on back roads, sisters day, lunch with her sisters at the senior citizen center in Whitney Point. She always had a little ditty or a goofy song to make us smile. She enjoyed and loved her children, grandchildren, sisters, family, friends and gave generously to all that she loved. She passed away peacefully with her children at her side, a beautiful silvery cloud could be seen through the window, it was the angels coming to take her home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Berkshire Congregational Church 12445 State Route 38 Berkshire NY 13736 or the Northern Broome Senior Center 12 Strongs Place Whitney Point NY 13862 The family will receive friends on Friday, July 14 from 11-1 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley.
