Robert J. Gadus, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024, at the age of 80. “Bob” as he was affectionately known by his friends and family was born on August 8, 1943, a son of the late John and Helene (Baker) Gadus. Robert's life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a passion for sports, and a warm, engaging personality that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Bob is survived by his loving spouse of over 50 years, Judith (Rogers) Gadus, who was not only his partner in life but also his companion on the golf course. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Lorna (Sam) Pepper and Toni (Butch) Green, who will remember him as a guiding light and a source of strength. Robert's joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandchildren, Ashley (Vince) Opeka, Emma Cleveland, Raymond Cleveland, and Devon Green, and he eagerly anticipated the arrival of his great-granddaughter.
Bob also leaves behind his sisters, Carol Gadus and Ellen (John) McNulty, who will miss his guidance and ever-present support. His close friends, Cindy Fleming and Dan and Dorla Race, will fondly recall the countless memories they created together over the years.
An avid sports enthusiast, Robert could often be found on the golf course, perfecting his swing alongside Judith. His love for sports extended beyond the green; he was a fan of all sports, finding joy and excitement in each game. Bowling was another of Robert's favorite pastimes, and he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendly competition it brought into his life.
Robert's community at the First Ward Senior Recreation Center in Binghamton knew him as a regular at the card tables, where he played with a keen mind and a playful spirit. His family nights were often filled with the laughter and light-hearted rivalry of poker games.
A stickler to his beliefs, Robert lived his life with integrity and purpose. He was unwavering in his convictions, and his family and friends admired him for his steadfastness. Yet, it was his loving nature that truly defined him. Robert's love was a constant presence, a warm embrace in times of need, and a source of comfort and joy.
