William “Bill” Langley, 75, of Owego, formerly of Candor and Maine NY, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023 following a brief illness.
Bill was born on June 15, 1948 in Staten Island, NY a son of the late Thomas and Marie (Morro) Langley. He was also predeceased by his great grandmother, Rose Morro with whom he had a very special bond.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Virginia (Spicer) Langley and his cherished daughters: Rose (Jason) Davis and Sarah (Dr. Mason) Langley-Sopchak, his four grandchildren: Ash, Ivy, Ezekiel and Yeannette. Also surviving are his sisters Carol and Joan, several nieces and nephews. His faithful canine companion for the last 15 years, Butter, is now very lonely also.
Bill was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the US Navy. Following his tour of duty, he began a long career with IBM in Endicott. He was an avid fan of all ‘things’ science fiction, from Star Wars and Star Trek to X-files and books by his favorite author, David Webber. He was also a very talented 'Mr. Fix-it''. Other activities he thoroughly enjoyed included watching Spongebob, days at the beach, fishing, traveling, collecting sci-fi objects, and enjoying time with his family as well as with friends and neighbors within his community. He will always be pictured and remembered as a kind man with a devoted four-legged companion at his side.
Bill’s family will welcome friends to reminisce and share their memories on Saturday September 30, 2023 from 10 until 12:00 noon at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley. Full Military Honors will then be accorded by an Active-Duty Navy Detail and Glen A Warner Post 1371, of Owego.
