Betty Hoskins

Betty J. Hoskins, 87, passed away on Oct. 23, 2017. Betty is survived by her son Donald (Kelly) Karpensky; grandchildren: Sheri, Bobby, Maria, Guy, Danielle, Mindy, James, Kyle and Dulcie; 17 great grandchildren, nephews and nieces: George and Nancy, Jerry, Howard, Jessie, Juliann, Brownie, Frank, Richard, Anna, Shirley. Betty was predeceased by: her parents George and Evelyn Carman; husbands, Chester Karpensky and Raymond Hoskins; son Robert Karpensky, Sr. brother, Jack Carman and sister Evelyn 'Mickey' (Robert) Cronk and her faithful boarder collie, Benny.Raised on the family farm, hard work, gardening and farming chores have always been part of her life. Betty owned farms with both of her husbands and played a key role in the operation of them. She also found time to become a licensed hairdresser, garden, knit, sew, needlepoint, play the organ and do woodworking. She loved to decorate for the holidays, enjoyed barn dances and feeding her many birds. She will be greatly missed.Betty's family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm and Thursday morning from 10-11 am.
