Betty E. Brown

Betty E. Brown, 80, of Whitney Point and formerly of Maine, NY, passed away at her home on July 20, 2013. Betty is survived by her sons Mark (Georgia) Brown, Richard (Marsha) Brown, Wayne Brown and daughter LuAnn (Mark) Brown. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren: Matthew, Randi, Anthony, Candi, Ian, Ashley, Jesse, Mark Jr., Jason, Heather, Amy, Craig, 28 great grandchildren, her brother Dick (Dawn) Davey, sister Irene (Tony) Nirchi and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Florence Davey, her husband, Robert B. Brown Jr, great grandson, Gavin, siblings: Marion, Delores, Roseanna, George Jr. and Frances Red.In her early years, Betty was a Girl Scout leader. She was a devoted member of the Nanticoke United Methodist Church; retired from the Maine Endwell School System where she had been employed as a school bus monitor on the special needs bus and served as a dedicated volunteer on the Maine Emergency Squad. She was an excellent baker, enjoyed sewing and crafts and loved all the holidays especially Christmas.A Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley. Burial will follow in Maine Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
