Bessie M. Budney

Bessie M. Budney, 81, formerly of Newark Valley and Berkshire, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 22, 2015. Bessie is survived by her loving children whom she always referred to as her VIPs: Victoria (Randy) Reese, Ivan Joe (Pam) Budney and Pauline (Daniel) Carman, her nine precious grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, her cherished sisters, Ruia (Corkey) Lewis, Linda Tarbox, Susie Brown and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bessie was predeceased by her parents George and Edna (VanEtten) Vanderpool, her husband, Arthur, her sister Kathaleen Vanderpool and aunts and uncles: Lawrence and Martha VanEtten, Pauline Acla, and Jean VanHouten. Bessie graduated from Newark Valley High School Class of 52. She has been a long-time and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark Valley where she also served as a Lay Minister and taught Sunday school. She was a former member of Tioga Opportunities and for almost 30 years, Bessie was affiliated with Stanley Home Products, beginning as a Hostess, advancing to a distributor and ending as a District Leader. Over the years she made many dear friends whose names she always remembereda skill she was proudly able to maintain until the present. Bessies family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 12 noon until the time of her Funeral Service at 1 PM. Burial will follow in East Newark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may kindly remember the Newark Valley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in loving memory of Bessie Budney.
