Devoted To God & Family - Barbara (Hill) Mayo, age 90, of Mechanicsburg, PA (formerly of Vestal, NY), went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Devere Mayo; her sister, Beulah (Hill) Reed; and her brother, Rodney Hill. Barbara's survivors include her brother-in-law Paul Mayo and wife Mary Lou (Boise) Mayo of Wellington, OH; her sister-in-law Ethelmae (Shisler) Mayo of Grafton, OH; her three children: Randy Mayo and wife Nancy of St. Louis, MO; Ronny Mayo and wife Rebecca of Portville, NY; and Marlene (Mayo) Post and husband Richard of Mechanicsburg, PA. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren: Adam Mayo and wife Brittany of Buffalo, WY; Daniel Mayo and wife Johanna of St Louis, MO; Ryan Mayo and wife Kristi of Lawrence, KS; Jaimi (Mayo) Warrick and husband Mark of Dalton, OH; Kristin Post of Greenville, SC; Kira (Mayo) Furlonger and husband Craig of Detroit, MI; Luke Mayo and wife Jessica of Georgetown, TX; Melissa Post of Mechanicsburg, PA; Shane Mayo of Casper, WY; Jessica Post of Greenville, SC; Joseph Mayo of San Antonio, TX; and Matthew Post of Mechanicsburg, PA; her 11 great-grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews. Barbara graduated from Vestal Central High School in Vestal, NY in 1948, and from Practical Bible Training School in Johnson City, NY in 1951. She and her sister Beulah traveled around the bi-state region, presenting musical & chalk artistry programs for churches. In 1953, she married Devere Mayo. Together they served as pastor & wife at small Baptist churches in Beaver Meadow, NY; Climax, MI; Gilboa, NY; Wellsboro, PA; Dundee, NY; and Jasper, NY. Devere and Barbara retired to Vestal, NY, and then to Mechanicsburg, PA. After Devere suffered a stroke in late 2019, they both remained in skilled nursing care at Mt. Hope Retirement Center in Manheim, Pa. until he joined his Savior on January 16, 2021, and now Barbara in July. While we know of a surety from the very words of God that they now walk and talk freely with the Creator of the universe, and therefore we cannot wish them back, we will nevertheless greatly miss one of the most unique and caring couples we have ever had the privilege of knowing. Barbara will be laid to rest at the Vestal Park Cemetery in Vestal, NY on July 10, 2021 under the care of MacPherson Funeral Home of Newark Valley, NY. There will be calling hours at 10:00 am at the West Endicott Baptist Church, Endicott, NY, and a Memorial Service at 11:00. Burial will follow at the cemetery, with an invitation to a light lunch at the Methodist church next door. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Barbara may be made to Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, 3026 Mt Hope Home Rd., Manheim, PA, 17545. Memories and condolences may be written in her guestbook at macphersonfh.com. .
