Barbara J. Pitcher, 81, of Endwell, NY, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Mercy House, Endicott, NY. Barbara is survived by her two sons: Jeff (Shelly) Pitcher (Plattsburgh, NY) and Gary (Diane) Pitcher (Charlottesville, VA); grandchildren, the joys of her life- Colt (Plattsburgh, NY); Chase (USAF Eielson AFB, Alaska); Kyle (Lynchburg, VA); Allie (Ben) and their sons Oliver and Walden (Boulder, CO); her brother Robert (Karen) Messersmith (Newark Valley, NY); and her sister Patricia Messersmith (Pinehurst, NC). Barbara was born on May 1, 1939 to the late Collins and Edna Messersmith. She came from a very large extended family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins scattered throughout the United States and Poland. She was the princess of the "cookie family." Barbara was a graduate of Union Endicott High School class of 1957. She lived her entire life in the Endwell Area, holding many different positions including exercise instructor and executive secretary. She retired in 2004 from the U.S. Attorneys Office (FBI) in Binghamton, NY. After retirement, Barbara enjoyed tap dancing with her special friends in Newark Valley. She also volunteered with her many friends at the Newark Valley Depot. On Wednesday, March 10th, friends and family are invited to the MacPherson Funeral home for a period of visitation from 11-12:30, with a celebration of her life immediately following at 12:30. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott, NY. In loving memory of Barbara, memorial gifts may be sent to the Union Volunteer Emergency Service, 8 S. Avenue B., Endwell, NY 13760.
