(Pericles)Anna Hvizdos, 95,of Newark Valley, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012. Anna was born on May 18, 1917 in Ashley, PA a daughter of John and Anastasia Wolowitz.In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Andrew Hvizdos, her beloved daughter, Louise Biggie; her siblings: Olga Stelmack, Helen McCue, Charles and Samuel Wolowitz and her son-in-law Willard Musser.She is survived by her devoted and beloved daughter, Gloria Musser with whom she has resided in Clayton, NY for the past 4 years and her beloved son, Andrew J. Hvizdos of Findlay, OH. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren: Edgar (Teresa) Biggie, III, Millersport, OH, Michael Biggie, Los Angeles, CA, Therese Biggie, Castine, ME, son-in-law, Edgar Biggie and great grandchildren: Joseph, Zachary and Katherine Biggie, and Nicholas and Sophia Jennings as well as several nieces and nephews.Anna was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Newark Valley and the former Rosary Society. She was an artisan with the crochet needle. Not only did she enjoy crocheting (right up until last month!), her handiwork was enjoyed by family and friends. Her gifts were treasures to be kept always. Anna loved her home and family. She was an excellent cook and baker, loved woodworking with her husband and could out-fish just about anyone.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, Newark Valley on Wednesday at 11 am. Rev. William A. Moorby, her pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley from 9-10:45 am. Memories and condolences may be written in her guest book at macphersonfh.com.
