Alice Zimmer

Alice Zimmer, 91, of Newark Valley, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 9, 2008. Born on Feb. 22, 1917 in Binghamton, Alice was the daughter of William and Pauline (Kulizoski) Budney. She was predeceased by her husbands, Stanley Grawbowski (1979) and Donald Zimmer (1999). Her brothers Edwin, Chester, Adam, and Arthur Budney, and her great granddaughter Sydney A. Cook also predeceased her.Alice is survived by her daughters, Irene English, Buffalo, Margaret (Dennis) Liebe, and Rosemary (Dick) Niznik all of Newark Valley, her step-children, Elizabeth (Mark) Welser, Owego, Donald (Mary) Zimmer, Newark Valley, Theresa Zimmer, Syracuse, brother Alfred Budney, Newark Valley, sister, Delores LaPoma, Ok. 11 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.Alice was a lifetime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Newark Valley. She was a long time floral designer for Georges Greenhouses, loved to travel, bowl and play bingo. Alice was dedicated to her family and her extended family.Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6-8PM at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St. Newark Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Newark Valley, with Rev. William A. Moorby officiating. Intement will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Maine, NY. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Center for Childrens Cancer & Blood Disorders, Upstate Medical University, 750 E.
