Alice Tavelli

Alice Tavelli, 98, passed peacefully on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 following a period of declining health. Alice is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Andy David (Tut) and Lillian Tavelli, Donald B. and Carrol Tavelli, her sister, Ruby Woodin, her grandchildren, Debbie, David, Lori, Tony, Gary, Dan, Karen, Missy, Desiree, Andria and Jamie, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Alice was born on Nov. 22, 1912 in Chicago, IL one of 14 children born to Sebastian and Minnie (Sporney) Gregrow. In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Tavelli. Alice was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Speedsville, served as an election inspector for the Town of Caroline for many years, was a member of Home Bureau and Caroline Senior Citizens. She enjoyed tending her beautiful flower gardens, was very fond of cats and dogs and welcomed any and all stray cats into her home.Her family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan 2, 2011 from 1-3 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A Celebration of her Life and funeral service will follow there at 3 pm with Rev. Philip Jordan officiating. Spring burial will be in the Speedsville Cemetery.
